Shia jurisprudence or Shia thoughts and beliefs, is a subject that used to be taught in national educational centers in mostly-Shia settling areas of Afghanistan, but now, the Ministry of Higher Education in Afghanistan has decided to exclude the subject from educational system.
The Council of Shia Scholars has negotiated the matter with the ministry, saying the decision is detrimental. The Ministry of Higher Education says it’s committed to providing good and necessary services to all citizens of the country, but it cannot implement this case for some reasons.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is under immense pressure by the international community to create an inclusive government and to respect the rights of minorities.
With the education system in Afghanistan being highly controversial since the Taliban took power, especially after the group barred girls from going to school and university, many believe that implementing such measure have contributed to the international isolation of the Taliban.
