Russia-Ukraine war

Southern and eastern regions of Ukraine have announced referendums on joining Russian Federation. Head of Kherson region says he will ‘not turn away’ from reunification with Russia.

Referendums have been planned for September 23-27 in several parts of Ukraine on joining Russia. However, the Ukraine’s foreign minister has said proposed referendums will not change anything, while Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson have already planned popular votes on joining Russia.

Moscow says it is up to the residents of regions to decide if they want to be part of Russia.

Press TV interviews John Bosnitch, journalist and political analyst from Belgrade and Mahmoud Refaat, president of the European Institute for International Law and International Relations from Stockholm to look at what happens if these regions join Russia and how Ukraine will react having vowed to take back every inch of its territory even when the referendum decides these regions are part of Russia.
