An official Iranian delegation has concluded its two-day visit to Syria, discussing prospects of expanding bilateral relations in various sectors with the Arab country.
An Iranian parliamentary delegation, headed by deputy parliament speaker Ali Nikzad, met with the speaker of Syria’s Peoples’ Assembly Hamoudeh Sabbagh, hailing the close relations between the parliaments of the two countries.
Sabbagh expressed appreciation for Iran’s steadfast and principled stance in support of Syria, especially in its war on terror.
The top legislator also met Syria’s foreign minister Faisal al-Mikdad who called for enhancing economic relations for the benefit of the two nations, condemning unilateral sanctions by the US and its western allies on Syria and Iran.
Nikzad expressed Iran’s readiness to increase the volume of trade exchange and economic partnerships with Syria.
The senior Iranian lawmaker also held a meeting with Syria’s prime minister Hussein Arnous. Both officials underlined the importance of removing obstacles in the face of implementing agreements signed by both sides, as well as increasing the number of joint investment projects.
The visit signifies brotherly relations not just between the two governments but also between the peoples of the two countries. The exchange of official visits between Syria and Iran has recently increased intending to boost economic cooperation.
