US President Joe Biden has commented on his ever sinking dip in the polls which has been lowering ever since he assumed office.

The Democratic leader made the comments about the loss of his favorability at a press conference at the end of the Group of 20 (G-20) Summit in Rome.

"That’s not why I ran. I didn’t run to determine how well I’m going to do in the polls," he said. "I ran to make sure that I followed through on what I said I would do as president of the United States."

His comments followed a new NBC News poll, in which 54 percent of respondents said they disapprove of his performance as president, putting his approval rating at 42 percent.

"The polls are going to go up and down and up down," Biden said. "They were high early, then they got medium, then they went back up, now they’re low. Well look, look at every other president. The same thing has happened… I’m not running because of the polls."

A RealClearPolitics average of various polls currently puts Biden’s favorability at 42.6 percent.

Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates, has suggested that the American voters’ perceived idea of Biden’s capability as president is gone now.

"The promise of the Biden presidency — knowledge, competence and stability in tough times — have all been called into question.”

The idea was projected via a comparison with an April poll, in which 43 percent of respondents approved of Biden as president and 39 percent disapproved of him.
