A former CIA officer has said that the United States has fallen into a very dangerous abyss of abuses.
Philip Giraldi revealed in an article run by Strategic Culture that powerful people in Washington, such as former CIA Director Mike Pompeo, gave permits for abuses that enabled them to justify any crime.
He wrote that the only way out of this abyss is to finally hold people like Pompeo accountable for participating in the assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani and Kata'ib Hezbollah commander Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes in Baghdad and attempting to kill whistleblowing journalist Julian Assange in London.
"That is the real abyss that the United States has fallen into and the only way out is to finally hold such people, starting with Pompeo, accountable for what they have done," Giraldi wrote in an article titled, Silencing Julian Assange: Why Bother With a Trial When You Can Just Kill Him?
The former intelligence officer for the CIA revealed that the agency's agents aimed to kill or kidnap the Wikileaks founder who had been jailed in Belmarsh prison in the UK.
"CIA planned to either kidnap or kill journalist Julian Assange and quipped 'I’ll bet he’s happy to be safe and sound in Belmarsh Prison if he has a chance to read about that!”', Giraldi wrote.
Giraldi quotes Assange’s lawyer as saying, "As an American citizen, I find it absolutely outrageous that our government would be contemplating kidnapping or assassinating somebody without any judicial process."
The writer sounded the alarm about the use of extreme options and non-conventional responses by officials to eliminate the enemies.
Iran has condemned the assassination of Iran’s senior anti-terror commander as the most obvious example of US terrorism.
Another form of US terrorism targeting Iran has been the harsh economic sanctions slapped against the Iranian nation.
Despite the outbreak of the coronavirus’ pandemic, inhumane US sanctions continued, and Washington chronically blocked vital medicine to the Islamic Republic, including cancer drugs.
