New report complicates Trump all-out war on his nemesis in GOP

A new report is further complicating infighting promoted by former President Donald Trump in the Republican Party as he tries to consolidate his grip on the GOP ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.

A New York Times report revealed that the person he has been supporting to replace one of his opponents, Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, actually spoke against him ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Harriet Hageman, who has been enjoying support from the former president to take on Cheney, was herself part of the resistance to stop Trump from being nominated by the Republican Party ahead of the 2016 presidential election, calling him “racist and xenophobic.”

Her comments today that “he was the greatest president of my lifetime,” lay bare the depth of double policy within the party as she is trying to gain power in the Equality State.

Trump has been seeking to oust Cheney, the daughter of former US Vice President Dick Cheney (2001-2009), after she voted to impeach him for inciting a protest at the US Capitol on Jan. 6 in attempt to overturn the victory of now-President Joe Biden.

DeVos tacitly denounces Trump’s grip over GOP ‘principles’

Former US Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has tacitly slammed her boss, former President Donald Trump, for his attack on what she described as GOP “principles.”

Back in May, Trump and his Republican allies in the Congress had also removed Cheney as the head of the 212-member House Republican Conference by supporting congresswoman Elise Stefanik in a party vote.

Ever since, the daughter of the notorious vice president, has turned into a symbol of resistance against Trump within the GOP, obliging the billionaire businessman to support Hageman to strip the opponent of her power.

Hageman went as far as blaming the Democrats, alleging they voted for Trump in the 2016 Republican primaries to make sure “the weakest candidate,” had been nominated.

But today the situation is different as the former president enjoys the most popularity within the GOP base, obliging party contenders to assure their commitment if they do not want to be canceled by the MAGA leader.

In her defense, Hageman said in the statement that she “heard and believed the lies the Democrats and Liz Cheney’s friends in the media were telling at the time, but that is ancient history.”
