Tokyo Olympics: US down France to grab gold
Team USA have claimed their 4th Olympic gold in a row after overcoming France 87 to 82.
The Americans, who lost their opening match against the French in the group stage, got the upper hand with a 4-point margin in the opening quarter, before taking the next quarter 22 to 21 that led to their 44 to 39 advantage at the intermission. The defending champions remained consistent after the break by winning the 3rd quarter with a 3-point lead to widen the gap to 8 points. However, France were not giving up and managed to grab the final quarter 19 to 16, but that was as far as they could go and the Americans managed to win the game with a 6 point victory to pocket their 4th consecutive Olympics gold medal. Kevin Durant was the best player of the game as he tallied 29 points.
