As official statistics show, the 3rd wave of COVID 19 is sharply spreading across Afghanistan and the government is struggling to reduce the level of harm coming from the disease.
Officials say the decision to put another two-week ban on nearly half of the educational centers and universities is a precautionary measure to avoid further spread of the disease in the country.
Afghanistan public health ministry blames locals for not paying due attention to health instructions. However, many here believe that attempts like this must be associated with other supportive measures by the government in order to convince ordinary people to stay at home.
In the meantime, some others suggest that closure of educational centers and universities is not enough and that the government must put a ban on activities of all public sites such swimming pools, wedding halls, sports clubs and even religious sites.
As observers say, the Afghan government will have a tough task to confront the spread of the 3rd wave of COVID 19 pandemic due to shortage of medical equipment. This comes despite receiving millions of dollars in aid by regional and international states and bodies.
Based on official figures, over 80 thousand Afghans individuals have been affected by the disease so far and over four thousands others have also lost their lives over the past year.
