Palestinian factions have called on the Palestinian Authority not to accept any US offer, saying the US is not a reliable mediator.

The call came after remarks by the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken who was on his first official visit to the region, where he met President Mahmoud Abbas.

During the meeting, the US top diplomat announced the US would re-open its Consulate General in Jerusalem al-Quds which had overseen relations with the PA before it was absorbed by the relocated US embassy.

He also said Washington will seek to provide $75m in development and economic assistance to Palestinians after an 11-day Israeli airstrikes of the Gaza Strip ravaged the territory.

The Palestinian factions say accepting any American proposal means spending years to come in lost.

This comes at a time when the resistance front has managed to achieve more victories on the ground.

The factions also called the PA to form a unity government whose main goal is strengthening the resistance to end the Israeli occupation.

Scores of Palestinians, meanwhile, demonstrated in Ramallah in protest at Blinkin’s visit to the city.

The demonstration was organized by the National and Islamic factions. Protesters chanted anti-US slogans and said they were opposed to receiving the enemies of the Palestinian people.

Palestinians say any promises to President Abbas by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will not affect the strategic alliance between the US and Israel that is already deeply rooted in economic interests. Thus Palestinian powers are urging the PA not to be deceived by such promises.
