Tokyo Olympics warning
A union of Japanese doctors has warned that holding the Tokyo Olympics safely during the pandemic is impossible. In a statement submitted to the government, the union said it strongly opposes the games at a time when people around the world are fighting the coronavirus. The union said it cannot deny the danger that many kinds of new virus variants will be brought to Tokyo from around the world. The statement comes as Japan is grappling with the fourth wave of the pandemic with several areas across Tokyo under a state of emergency. This comes as organizers say they can safely hold the games thanks to measures implemented throughout the country to curb the pandemic.
