Democratic nominee Joe Biden will “ listen to scientists,” once elected the president of the United States, says President Donald Trump, further acknowledging that he does not.

The Republican nominee was mocking his rival at a rally in Carson City, Nevada, as Covid-19 was taking more lives in America.

“He’ll listen to the scientists,” Trump said in a mocking tone. “If I listened totally to the scientists, we would right now have a country that would be in a massive depression instead — we’re like a rocket ship. Take a look at the numbers.”

The president also censured Democratic governors for “keeping their states closed” with preventative measures against the spread of the pandemic.

“Trump crashed the strong economy he inherited from the Obama-Biden Administration by lying about and attacking the science, and layoffs are rising. Meanwhile, Joe Biden would create millions more jobs than Trump,” said a spokesperson for Biden’s campaign, Andrew Bates, adding that Trump’s claims are “tellingly out of touch and the polar opposite of reality.”

There are more than 8.1 million cases of the coronavirus in the US with more than 219,000 deaths reported.

The Trump administration has come under unprecedented criticism over failing to mitigate spread of the pandemic into the United States.
