Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) forces have killed three terrorists during two “complicated” operations in the western province of Kordestan, which borders Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.

A statement by the IRGC’s Hamzeh Seyed al-Shohada Base said on Monday that three terrorists were also injured in those operations, which were carried out last week, in the cities of Kamyaran and Marivan.

It added that the IRGC forces also arrested one terrorist of foreign nationality.

According to the statement, large quantities of weapons, ammunition, and communication equipment were also seized from terrorists.

The IRGC Ground Force said in September that it had carried out a series of large-scale multi-pronged military operations against positions of terror groups along the country’s northwestern borders.

Drones, artillery fire and smart missiles were used in the operations, which killed and wounded a large number of key counter-revolutionary elements active in the area.

IRGC forces regularly engage in clashes with terrorists attempting to infiltrate the borders and carry out acts of sabotage across the country.

Over the past years, the country’s Kordestan Province has seen numerous cross-border incursions by Iraq-based terrorists.

A statement by the Hamzeh Seyed al-Shohada Base said several “counter-revolutionary’ terrorists were killed during clashes in Divandarreh County in May, without providing a specified number.
