The new English Premier League season has kicked off, and Mohammad Salah was the star of the night at Anfield, scoring a hat-trick in Liverpool’s 4-3 win against newly-promoted Leeds United.
The defending champions got on the scoresheet after Just four minutes of play, as Egyptian superstar, Salah, converted from the spot.
The visitors, who returned to the top flight after 16 years, leveled the match when Jack Harrison finished his solo effort in the 12th minute.
But eight minutes later, the Merseyside Reds went back in front after a powerful header by captain Virgil van Dijk.
Leeds found the equalizer again after van Dijk’s error gifted a goal to Patrick Bamford in the 30th minute.
Three minutes later, Liverpool went back in front when Salah scored his brace with a powerful strike from inside the box.
Leeds were not giving up as Mateusz Kilch scored with a clinical volley to make it 3-all in the 66th minute.
Finally, Salah completed his hat-trick from the spot with two minutes remaining, to begin Liverpool’s title defense with a hard fought victory.
