Tennis number one Novak Djokovic has been disqualified from the US Open after accidentally hitting a line judge with a ball.
The top seed had been bidding for his 18th Grand Slam win but his title hopes were dashed after he was defaulted from the 4th-round match against Pablo Carreno Busta.
Djokovic was failing to take the opening set, having dropped serve to trail 5-6. He struck a ball away in frustration. The ball hit a female line judge who dropped to her knees.
There were several minutes of discussion with officials on court arguing the case before it was announced that Djoko was out of the competition. It appeared that the Serbian had not meant to hit the lines-woman, but players have been disqualified in the past over similar incidents.
