Miguel Oliveira of Portugal has claimed a dramatic victory in an interrupted Styrian MotoGP at the Red Bull Ring.

The race was halted after 15 of the 27 laps, following a horrific crash involving championship contender Maverick Vinales, which produced a red flag.

It was a neck and neck contest between pole-sitter Pol Espargaro and Jack Miller after the restart, but Oliveira went past both of them in the last lap to sweep through for his first MotoGP victory after clocking 16 minutes and 56 seconds. Miller and Espargaro finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Meanwhile, championship leader Fabio Quartararo struggled for pace for a 2nd consecutive race in Austria as he finished 13th, retaining a slender 3-point lead over Andrea Dovizioso in the championship standings.

The Championship will head to Italy for a double header at the Misano World Circuit, with the first race scheduled for the 13th of September.
