Iran says it will use all capacities in the world to meet its arms requirements, and sell and export weapons after sanctions removal.

Speaking at a press conference, Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami announced that a review of Iran's military development shows that sanctions have failed to restrict Iran's defensive capabilities, and the country is currently seeking to acquire the weapons it needs and exports what it produces after the embargo ends.

Iran's defense minister also said Iran will unveil new defense equipment on the National Defense Industry Day, which falls on August 21.

On the US failure to win the support of the member states of the United Nations Security Council to approve the draft resolution it had prepared to extend the arms embargo on Iran, the minister noted that the US Administration did not achieve its objective.

Experts believe that the US seeks to render Iran defenseless by attempting to prolong the arms embargo against it. But they say Tehran is able to defend itself effectively with or without arms restrictions.

Hatami said Iran has developed its defensive power using domestic resources, despite the enemy’s attempts to prevent this, through sanctions. The general said Iran’s military might is not meant for aggression, but warned that the country is ready to counter any security threats.

Despite all sanctions in the past 40 years, Iran’s defense ministry has reached self-sufficiency in producing its military equipment only reliance on young and experienced specialists.
