Following Saturday’s defeat at Sheffield United, the London Blues started the match brightly and got on the scoresheet, when France striker, Olivier Giroud, netted the winning goal with a diving-header to give Chelsea a crucial 3-points in the dying moments of the 1st half.
The victory sent Frank Lampard’s side 4 points clear of Manchester United, in the race for the Champions League.
Chelsea will next meet the Red Devils in the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday, before travelling to Anfield to line up against the newly-crowned Champions, Liverpool, next week.
