President Nicolas Maduro has announced that OPEC will be providing aid to Venezuela for the restoration of gasoline production in the Latin American country.

Maduro said the aid would help resume the production of a variety of chemicals in oil refineries, which, in turn, leads to more gasoline output across the nation.

The OPEC aid comes after Iran delivered five tankers carrying fuel and equipment to Venezuela to help the country tackle its gasoline shortages. The fuel delivery happened while both nations are under US sanctions.

Officials believe the recent aids would help the government to offset the US sanctions impact. But on the opposition side, which is supported by the US, activists criticize the OPEC position.

Meanwhile, experts say Venezuela’s international cooperation means that the US has failed to achieve its goals.

Following fuel imports, the Maduro administration has reopened around 1,500 gas stations in recent days.

Although the US has frozen Venezuela's oil industry assets abroad and hindered foreign cooperation to the Latin American country, Caracas continues to make efforts to restore the nation's oil output and gasoline production.
