COVID-19 kills Leeds United legend veteran Norman Hunter
England 1966 World Cup winner and Leeds United legend Norman Hunter has passed away at the age of 76 after testing positive for coronavirus.
Hunter had been admitted to hospital on April the 10th, after being diagnosed with the virus and although famed for his vigor and vitality in his playing days, he didn’t last more than a week as he sadly lost his fight earlier on Friday.
With more than 700 appearance in a 15-year career at Elland Road, Hunter was considered to be one of the best defenders of his era.
Having won 28 caps for England, he was also a member of the Three Lions who lifted the Jules Rimet trophy on home soil in 1966.
A statement from Leeds United says the passing of Norman Hunter leaves a huge hole in the club, and that his legacy will never be forgotten.
