Manchester United have advanced to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup, after a convincing 3-nil victory against their all-time top scorer, Wayne Rooney and Co. at Derby County.
Man United’s early pressure paid off with a fortunate opener in the 33rd minute, when a half volley by their defender, Luke Shaw, took a heavy deflection off teammate, Jesse Lingard, and looped into the net.
The goal scorer then turned provider, as the Red Devils doubled their lead eight minutes later, when their loan signing Odion Ighalo poked home his second goal for the club.
And the former Nigeria international ended any hopes of a Derby comeback in the 70th minute, with a left-footed strike following a rebound.
Manchester United will now travel to Premier League strugglers Norwich City, in their sixth successive FA CUP quarterfinal appearance.
