Watch: Yemen downs Saudi-led coalition drone in Hudaydah

Footage released by Yemen’s War Media shows a precision strike by allied Yemeni defense forces against a drone flown by an invasive Saudi Arabia-led coalition.

Footage shows the moment when joint Yemeni defense forces conduct a successful surgical strike against a spy drone flown by the Saudi-led coalition, which is waging a war against the impoverished country, over the western province of al-Hudaydah.

The video released by Yemen’s War Media, an outlet that reports on the Saudi-led war and Yemen’s defensive measures, showed Yemen’s Air Defense Force and their allied Popular Committees hitting the Turkish-built Vestel Karayel aircraft with a precision missile on Monday.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesman for Yemeni Armed Forces, said the aircraft was struck as it was on a surveillance mission over al-Salif coastal village in Hudaydah.

Over the next following days, the Yemeni allies brought down another Saudi-led spy drone as it was flying in the skies over al-Tina area of Hayran district in Yemen’s northwestern province of Hajjah and targeted another one in the skies over the kingdom’s southern border region of Jizan.

The Saudi-led coalition invaded Yemen in 2015 to bring its former Saudi-backed government back into power. Tens of thousands have been killed since the onset of the invasion, and the Arab world’s already poorest nation has been pushed close to the brink of outright famine.
