2019: A Political Review

Regarding the major political events of 2019 of Iran, which ones do you think matter most? 2019 witnessed much.

To acknowledge all the suffering it saw, one may refer to the most prominent happenings over the year; from scientists’ detention to US-imposed sanctions on Iran and Iranians. Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution the US and Iran have been at odds. The US wants to contain Iran.

Yet on 8th May 2018 it pulled out of the 2015 nuclear deal that put controls on Iran’s nuclear programme, in return for lifting sanctions off this country. So sanctions were never lifted.

The US also arrested Iranian Scientist Professor Soleimani without charges. Even the Iranian prominent journalist Marzieh Hashemi was not safe from US's illegal acts of bullying.
