For the past two months, Iraq has been the scene of violent rallies, with the protesters calling for political change and better economic conditions.
Both protesters and security forces were the victims of the unrest. The governments reforms, including economic changes have failed to quell the unrest.
On Saturday, new rallies were held despite Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdis resignation. It is still unclear where and how the bloodshed started. But the government blames a group of rioters for inciting violence.
Some Western and Arab media have tried to magnify the protests to cheer for further rallies, and seek their own agenda in the region. Analysts say Iraqs resolve to resist foreign intervention and bullying has placed it in the United States and its allies bad books.
