Czechs rallied in great numbers hoping to use the 30th anniversary of the pro-democratic Velvet Revolution to urge Prime Minister Andrej Babis to resign.

Peaceful protesters from all corners of the Czech Republic attended Saturday's demonstration, the second protest opposing Babis at Letna park this year, a site of the massive gatherings that contributed significantly to the fall of communism in 1989.

The demonstrators see the populist billionaire as a threat to democracy and the country's legal system. They are giving him till 31 December to get rid of his business and media empire or resign.

They also want Babis' new Justice Minister, who they say might compromise the legal system, to resign. Babis denies any wrongdoing and says there's no reason for him to resign.
