13th of Aban anniversary

This year’s anniversary of the US embassy takeover was held livelier as the Iranian public opinion has become more aware of the US’s unending animosity towards Iran.

November the 4th, 40 years ago in Tehran, saw US embassy staffers taken prisoner for up to 444 days. Muslim student followers of the Imam’s line, jumped the embassy fence and within 3.5 hours had full control of the embassy.

The main reason behind the students’ act was a fear from another US plot against their revolution because they had not forgotten what the US government did to Mosaddegh’s government, 1353 coup.

One of the reasons for anti US fury and anti UK sentiment, which led to the US embassy takeover was the coup of 1353. What’s known as the CIA-engineered and UK-instigated coup, toppled Iran's elected prime minister and cemented the power of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. This is to say the King pulled off a coup against the Prime Minister.

This year’s anniversary of the US embassy takeover seemed livelier. Because the maximum pressure sanctions the US expected would cause a rift between Iranians and their government. But what happened with many Iranians, was that whatever rift may have started, US sanctions only stitched up.

The part of the Iranian nation which believed that the US is not that bad, came to the understanding that the US government is not trustworthy and negotiation with it is a waste of breath.
