The UK general election has been called for December 12th and while Brexit seems to be the number one talking issue amongst the political parties and the electorate, there seems to be another issue that could also dominate the coming election campaign: the future of the NHS.
Indeed both Conservative leader Boris Johnson and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn clashed over the NHS at the last Prime Minister's Questions before the general election.
Boris Johnson also warned of "economic catastrophe" if Labour got into power.
According to a recent poll led by 'Keep Our NHS Public' and 'We Own It' almost half of the people surveyed think Boris Johnson is lying about the NHS and a US trade deal.
While the Prime Minister claims that the NHS is not “on the table”, only 31% believe him, compared to 45% who say he is lying and 24% who say they “don’t know”.
The poll found that 57% of people are either “very concerned” or “quite concerned” about the impact a trade deal with Donald Trump could have on the NHS.
When asked which parties they trust to ensure the NHS is a publicly funded and publicly run institution, just 18% said they trusted the Conservative Party compared to 31% for Labour
Dr. Bob Gill has been campaigning about the threat of privatization to the NHS since 2013.
I asked him if he thought the Labor party could be trusted with the NHS
Jeremy Corbyn's first stop on the campaign trail after Prime Minister's Questions was a hospital, which indicates he plans to make the NHS a key part of his election campaign.
The question is does the British public trust the Labour party with the NHS considering the privatization process started under Labour's watch.
I guess we will have a better idea by December 12th.
