Djokovic had little trouble in the opening set to force a 6-3 win over the Japanese after breaking him twice. The World No.1 continued to rule the 2nd set, but Soeda didn’t surrender easily as he saved 3 match points to tie the match at 5-all.
Djokovic then broke the resistance and went on to break Soeda’s serve to love in the 12th game, sealing the victory in 96 minutes. The Serbian Ace will next meet Lucas Pouille of France in the quarterfinals on Friday.
