Rafael Nadal has produced some excellent skills to take down Matteo Berrettini in straight sets, on his way for a blockbuster US Open final against Daniil Medvedev.
The 3-time US Open champion survived 2 set-points to edge out the fearless Berrettini at 8-6 in the tie-break and claim the opener through the cheers of his fans.
Berrettini, who was playing his first major semi-final, tormented Nadal with his booming serves, but the gaps widened as the Spaniard finally broke the young Italian once and served out to love for a 6-4 win in the second set.
The 18-time major champion, then added some star-dust to the match as he converted a stunning 360-degree swiveling backhand, before smashing the white line with a powerful forehand to wrap it up at 6-1.
That will set Nadal up against Number 5 seed Medvedev, in a tantalizing final showdown of the last Grand Slam event of the year.
