Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of London on Wednesday, to decry the recently announced move by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to suspend parliament for five weeks as the government's Brexit deadline moves ever nearer.
Footage shows protesters marching and chanting near the Houses of Parliament in the UK capital, many of them holding European Union flags and shouting anti-Brexit chants. Demonstrators also gathered outside the gates of Downing Street, where the crowd chanted "Kick him out," presumably in reference to Johnson.
Johnson announced his intentions earlier in the day and the plans were acceded to by the Queen early in the afternoon.
The move by Johnson was condemned as a "constitutional outrage" by the Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, while Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has said that his party will put forward legislation to prevent parliament being suspended.
