Cameroon has been stripped of the right to host the 2019 African Nations Cup finals.
The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football, announced the verdict on Friday. The unanimous decision was made due to serious delays over Cameroon’s preparations for the tournament, and political violence near two of the planned venues.
Cameroon was initially named as the host for a 16-team event, but in July 2017, CAF expanded the tournament to 24 teams. Meanwhile, the new host is expected to be named before the end of the year, and Morocco is the favorite to take over.
The event will be held from June the 15th to July the 13th.
