Iran’s president says the US military presence in Syria is illegal and against international law. Hassan Rouhani was speaking at a news conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. He said Iran’s military advisors are in Syria at the request of the country’s government to help it fight against terrorism. Rouhani also questioned Washington’s military presence in Iraq. Rouhani stresses importance of nuclear deal

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has stressed the importance of preserving the 2015 nuclear deal in a meeting with United Nations chief Antonio Guteresh. He said the UN should carry out its responsibilities under international law so that no country can violate its commitments. The UN secretary-general said in response that US sanctions are not endorsed by the UN. He added that the breach of the nuclear agreement was against Security Council regulations. Mitchell will question Kavanaugh and one of his accusers, Christine Blasey Ford, in an upcoming hearing on Thursday. Ford has accused the senior judge of sexual assault back in high school. Trio talks on Syria

The foreign ministers of Iran, Russia and Turkey have held a meeting to discuss the situation in Syria. Mohammad Javad Zarif, Sergey Lavrov and Mevlut Cavusoglu met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York City on Wednesday. They discussed the situation in Syria, mainly focusing on the terrorist-held Syrian province of Idlib. The trio discussed the political settlement of the crisis and stressed the need for drafting a new Syrian constitution that will pave the way for general elections. Other militants must hand over their heavy weaponry. Idlib is the last stronghold of terror groups fighting Syrian government forces.
