Train derails in the US

Thirty-three freight-train carriages carrying crude oil derailed near the town of Doon, Iowa on Friday morning forcing residents in the local area to evacuate their homes.

Between 20 to 30 of the carriages fell into floodwaters form the Rock River that had advanced to the base of the tracks which resulted in an oil spill and authorities asking residents in the area to leave their homes as a precautionary measure.

The spill has been secured for a clean-up operation by a hazmat squad and specialist crews. No injuries have been reported as a result of the derailment.
