US Vice President Mike Pence has called “baseless” claims that his boss, Donald Trump, had an affair with a celebrity porn star, who was reportedly paid later to keep silent.

The former Indiana governor, who was on an official visit to some US key allies in the Middle East, made the comments in an interview with the Associated Press in Jerusalem al-Quds on Monday.

Trump's personal lawyer brokered a payment to the adult industry actress ahead of the latest round of the presidential election, in October 2016, to make actress Stormy Daniels not leak the affair to the press.

Michael Cohen, his personal attorney, has also denied there was any such relationship whatsoever between the president and the pornographic actress, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford.

Daniels, who is also a screenwriter and a director in the porn industry, has also released a signed statement, denying having received any hush money.

US Vice President Mike and his wife Karen Pence (L), Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu, pose for a photo at the premier's residence in Jerusalem al-Quds on January 22, 2018.

The recent allegations add to those of sexual assault by Trump, already gripping his administration in the first year.

Trump was recorded during a taping for a 2005 Access Hollywood segment bragging about his ability to grope women because he's "a star."

In the hours after the video was revealed in October 2016, then-candidate Trump acknowledged he made the lewd comments and apologized.

Several other women have stepped forward ever since, accusing the commander in chief of inappropriate sexual behavior.
