US President Donald Trump is expected to declare that Washington recognizes Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of Israel. The announcement - which is expected to be made on Wednesday - is the first by a US president in the nearly 70 years since Israel’s founding. And many are already warning that Trump’s decision could provoke a new Palestinian uprising and also deteriorate anti-American sentiments worldwide. Some early reactions to Trump’s decision to declare Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s capital are already appearing. The Arab League has warned that it would fuel extremism and violence. It has also announced that taking such action is not justified and will only benefit the Israelis.

Flynn guilty of lying

Another sequence in a drama that has cast a shadow over Donald Trump’s presidency since he took charge of the White House in January 2016; Developments surrounding a months-long federal probe into alleged meddling by Russia in last year’s US presidential election, have now taken a fresh turn. In a breakthrough for prosecutors, former US national security adviser Michael Flynn has pleaded guilty to Lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia's Washington ambassador in late December 2016; that’s just a month before Trump took office. Flynn confessed in his plea that a senior transition official of the Trump campaign had directed his communication with the Russians. Flynn, who served as Trump’s adviser for only three weeks, stepped aside in February after reports surfaced that his ties with the Russians could leave the president in a compromised position. Under US law, it is illegal for private citizens to be engaged in American diplomacy efforts.
