World's largest planetarium opens in Russia
The world's largest planetarium has opened its gates for visitors in Saint Petersburg.
The new planetarium, with a gigantic dome 37 meters in diameter, is situated on the site of a former gasholder building. It has the capacity to accommodate more than 500 people. In the near future, there will also be exhibition halls, observation platforms, aircraft modeling workshops, a projection museum and multiple lecture halls next to it. The second largest orrery, located in New York City, is 21 meters in diameter.
