President Donald Trump of the United States now has a free hand to ratchet up pressure on North Korea, says a commentator.

Jim Dean told Press TV that the public in the United States has not "heard two things from North Korea." One of them, he said, "is, which has only been reported in the foreign press, that it agreed to stop missile testing if the US and South Korea would stop doing big joint military maneuvers, which North Korea felt very aggressive moves on their border threatening them."

The second thing, Dean argued, was the "so-called threat by North Korea," which "is really being hyped typically by the Pentagon."

Dean said the idea that Pyongyang could "possibly" have "a missile that could hit the US" was "absolutely ludicrous."

Jim W. Dean is the managing editor at the Veterans Today in the US State of Georgia.
