In Cuba, car racing enthusiasts are teaching young drivers to stay on the right track when it comes to road safety by hosting races and competitions.
The private race course is located on the outskirts of the capital Havana to make sure none of the participants endanger the public or break road laws.
The cars themselves may not look like much, but it’s under the bonnet where these vehicles have been modified for speed and performance. Officials of the event say it’s about providing a space for drivers to have fun without putting lives at risk.
Having said that, the venue does have the support of the government and local officials who approve of their aim to provide a safe environment for racing. Motorsport is gaining momentum in Cuba and the club hopes that will spread further as the country opens up to the world.
