Zabivaka the wolf chosen as Russian 2018 FIFA World Cup mascot

Russians have chosen Zabivaka the Wolf as their official mascot for the 2018 World Cup.

The wolf character received 53 percent of the votes following an 18-month long voting process on FIFA’s website.

The wolf was followed by a tiger and a cat who collected around 27 and 20 percent respectively.

Zabivaka which means the one who scores has been described as charming, confident and social.

The mascot was welcomed by Russia deputy prime minister Vitaly Mutko and Brazilian football legend and 2 time FIFA World Cup winner Ronaldo.
