- Russia says the US has failed to fulfill its obligations under the Syria ceasefire agreement. A Russian military spokesman criticized Washington’s rhetorical fog which he said is aimed at hiding Washington's failure to meet its commitments. He also slammed the White House for voicing skepticism about cooperation with Moscow.
- US police in the state of Ohio have fatally shot a teenage boy who pulled a gun which was later determined to be a BB gun. Police say the officers were responding to a robbery when the incident happened. The shooting comes amid a surge in police violence against citizens.
- Police in the US state of Florida have detained a man named Joseph Schreiber on charges of setting fire to a mosque. Officials say the suspect was arrested following a tip off and the case is being prosecuted as a hate crime.
- Brazil’s former president Lula de Silva has rejected charges of involvement in a graft scandal involving state oil company Petrobras. Lula’s lawyer said prosecutors lack evidence to back up their accusations. However, prosecutors believe the corruption could not have happened without Lula’s involvement.
- France has been hit by fresh demonstrations against the government’s controversial labor law reforms. The nationwide rallies come amid unions' calls for new strikes. Authorities say they hope the reforms, adopted by the French parliament in July, will make labor market more flexible. But critics say the measures only favor employers.
- Saudi Arabia says several members of its forces have been killed by the Yemeni army in the past few days. A Saudi officer and a soldier were killed in Yemen’s retaliatory attacks in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern Asir region. Yemeni forces also gunned down two Saudi soldiers in the Najran province.
- Turkey says it is planning to build 174 new prisons since there is no more space to accommodate the arrestees following July’s failed military coup. The decision was taken after 6 prisoners, complained to the Justice ministry about the situation. 42,000 people are in Turkish jails over the coup attempt.
- The UN refugee agency has called on the international community to focus on the education of refugee children as a fundamental matter. The UN said that over 3.7 million children have no access to schools .This comes as UK-based charity War Child has also raised the alarm over the situation of displaced children.
