Iran's Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi says Iranian security forces have killed a senior spy working for foreign intelligence services to destabilize the borders.

"The trace of spying agencies is seen in creating certain security challenges in the country’s borders,” Alavi said in the holy city of Qom on Thursday.

The agencies set up 12 teams and paid USD 500,000 for every operation, USD 3,000 to each member per month and USD 10,000 to the families  of a person killed, Alavi noted.

These expenses were made “to threaten our country’s security, but due to the vigilance of Iranian security forces their plot was foiled and their leader Abu Hafiz Balushi with the ID card name of Hosham Azizi was killed,” the Iranian minister stated.

Alavi further warned about a NATO-like security alliance that wants to challenge peace in Iran, adding, however, that it has failed to do so.

The Takfiri terrorist groups along Iran’s southeast and northwestern borders lack the capability to endanger the country’s security, Alavi emphasized, saying that they are just “puppets of enemies and arrogant powers” while the CIA spy agency, Israel's Mossad, Britain's MI6, and the Saudi spying agency are cooperating on the backstage in that regard.

Iranian forces have, over the past months, engaged in clashes with terror groups, foiling their terrorist plots on the frontier and within the country, arresting a number of them and confiscating large amounts of explosives and bomb-making materials.

Earlier this month, security forces in Iran killed an “influential” member of the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group and busted the terror cell he belonged to during clashes in the country’s western province of Kermanshah.

Back in June, the Iranian Intelligence Ministry reported thwarting a Takfiri-Wahhabi plot to stage attacks in Iran’s major cities, including the capital, Tehran. It also released a video showing security forces raiding the hideout of the terrorists in the capital.
