Analyst says US wants to see destabilized Libya

Press TV has interviewed Peter Koening, a geopolitical analyst from Geneva, about the fight against the Daesh Takfiri terrorists in Libya's Sirte.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: How do you assess the battle against ISIL for the control of the northern city of Sirte in Libya?

Koening: I think we have to start first with the premise that Washington does not, and I repeat not, want peace in the Middle East. Washington wants chaos and that's what they are trying to do now again in Libya. With chaos you can control everything. You can actually continue warfare as is necessary for their economy and for their profit. These two objectives among selective others depend on of course what Washington needs to do. And of course the final goal is to stay in power and power that eventually will lead to full spectrum dominance, full hegemony of the world. Now Libya is a step in this direction. I think it's a very important step because Libya has highly coveted light petrol. Libya is strategically located. From Libya you control the Mediterranean Sea which in itself is a strategic gulf towards encircling Asia particularly Russia.

Besides it is said that the Mediterranean Sea has untold and so far unexploited hydrocarbon resources. As a parenthesis just let me say it will be a good step towards peace when the world moves away from hydrocarbon as the chief resource of energy. Having said that, the US is trying everything to destabilize Libya. A stabilized Libya for example with the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) does not serve Washington, even though they pretend they defend them they are actually bombing, they are doing the same thing by saying they're bombing ISIS as they did in Syria, when in fact what they are doing is destabilizing and probably fighting against GNA. So that ISIS can continue with their control over Libya, a control which is of course directed again by Washington and NATO.

I think we can even go a step further, because Libya was in fact the center of stability not only for the Middle East and North Africa, but also for Africa itself. Gaddafi had to go. He had to be killed. It is horrible. It is a horrible horrible crime committed by that time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. And it will be a disaster if such a criminal person would be the next president. I guess it doesn't really matter who is the next president because whoever it is, this next president will have to fulfill the mandate of the masters of the universe, those who also control our ... monetary system, which brings me to another point why Gaddafi had to go. That is because he had the gold dinar. He had just created the gold dinar for his own country, which he wanted to introduce to Africa to actually free Africa. It would be a non-Western currency. It would be a currency delinked from the dollar and delinked from the euro. He wanted to help free Africa from the exploitation and neo-colonization by the West by introducing the gold dinar, which was a key reason why he had to go.

It's a good thing now that Russia is in the Middle East and I think this is terrific. It's also a very positive sign that Erdogan seems to steer Turkey towards the East and cooperating with Russia and China. It is very definitely a very positive advantage that Iran has put their Hamedan base at Russia’s disposal. So the Middle East is now pretty much in control of the triangle, I would say Russia, Iran and Syria, which according to, even the New York Times has dared to say once since Russia is there, the Middle East is moving towards more stability. And I truly hope especially with this triangle, I call it the triangle, because we don't know really where Turkey stands yet, we hope it will also corporate, but it is definitely Russia, Iran and Syria with the help of Hezbollah too, which I truly hope will bring peace to the Middle East and eventually bring a sea change not only to the Middle East but hopefully for the world at large.
