Protester injured on second night of Milwaukee unrest

An officer has been wounded and one person was rushed to hospital as shots were fired amid scuffles between US police and protesters in Milwaukee. This is the second night of rallies over fatal shooting of a black man. The city’s mayor has deployed the National Guard in the streets.
Calls are increasing in Australia, demanding an inquiry into reported mistreatment of asylum-seekers on remote pacific islands. The Australian opposition party says reports out of refugee camps suggest abuse of refugees. The UN has also called on Australia to bring those responsible for abuse to account.
At least 10 Indian paramilitary troops were injured in fresh clashes in Indian-controlled Kashmir. Three of them are in critical condition. They were injured when two gunmen exchanged fire with security forces in two separate incidents. Kashmir is under severe curfew for weeks amid recent pro-independence rallies.
One soldier and three civilians have been injured as a bomb goes off near the US Embassy in Kabul. Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry says the bomb was detonated by a remote control. At least 80 civilians lost their lives in the blast that targeted a rally in Kabul in late July.
Newly-released figures show Japan’s economy slightly grew in the second quarter of this year. Japan filed a point-two percent growth in that period. Falling exports and a cutback in expenditure have been blamed for the flat growth. Japan is the world’s third largest economy.
South Korean has advised neighboring nation North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapon program. President Park Goun-Hey says Pyongyang’s provocative acts would be counter-productive. She also defended installment of US missile batteries in South Korea as an act of self-defense.
The Syrian Army has engaged in clashes with terrorists in and around the city of Aleppo. The Russian Air Force is covering the army and repelling attacks on government positions. The fighting is now focused on Ramouseh, south of Aleppo. It is held by extremists.
Yemeni forces have fired a ballistic missile at a military base in Saudi Arabia. The attack targeted the kingdom’s southern city of Najran. There is no report of possible casualties. The attack comes in retaliation for Saudi Arabia’s recent deadly airstrikes in Yemen.
