The UK has voted to leave the European Union in a historic referendum, which ends the country's 43-year membership in the bloc. The vote results have sent shock waves across markets around the world. Following the referendum, the pound fell to its lowest point since 1985 with markets taking a hit. Brexit also prompted the resignation of Prime Minister David Cameron, with Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirming that her government will seek a second referendum on independence from the UK.
