A UK-bound passenger plane from Norway has been evacuated before take-off due to “suspicious behavior” of two travelers, police have confirmed.

The incident occurred at Rygge Airport, near Oslo, when the two passengers were heard arguing in an airport toilet prior to boarding the jet which was due in the British city of Manchester, Norwegian police spokesman Anders Stroemsaether told public broadcaster NRK.

Other passengers heard the word "bomb" being used and informed the captain of the conversation as they boarded the aircraft, he added.

Police and other security forces then evacuated the plane, taking the two passengers in for questioning.

A bomb squad arrived at the scene and searched the aircraft but found no explosive devices.

Police took to Twitter later on and said that the two passengers were discharged after being interviewed.

“After questioning of witnesses and those brought in, the police have concluded that the situation is a result of a misunderstanding,” police said.

A replacement flight from Rygge to Manchester was rearranged by Ryanair and departed at midnight on Sunday.

The incident took place just hours after a similar bomb scare in Manchester’s Old Trafford stadium, were thousands of spectators were ordered to evacuate the venue over the discovery of a suspicious package.

The device, comprised of a mobile phone wired to a pipe, was then detonated by the UK Army’s bomb disposal units.

However, British police later on revealed it was a training device left inside the stadium following an earlier security exercise.

The fake bomb forced Premier League officials to call off a game between Manchester United and Bournemouth 20 minutes before the kickoff.
