Trump accuses China of ‘raping’ US in trade

Billionaire real estate mogul Donald Trump

US GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump says the United States cannot afford to allow China to “rape” the country in trade.

The controversial figure, who has grabbed a huge amount of media attention in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election, made the comments among his supporters in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on Monday.

"Five hundred billion dollar deficit, trade deficit with China. We are going to turn it around, and we have the cards. Don't forget, we are like the piggy bank that's being robbed. We have the cards. We have a lot of power with China.” said the billionaire.

“When China doesn't want to fix the problem in North Korea, we say 'Sorry folks, you gotta fix the problem,' because we can't continue to allow China to rape our country, and that's what they're doing. It's the greatest theft in the history of the world."

The real estate mogul said he would “win” anyway, so it is better for the Republican Party to “come together.”

Trump has been engaged in an apparent row with the GOP, which argues he is not conservative enough to run as its nominee.

"I don't think it matters, but it would be nice to have the Republican Party come together. With that being said, I think I'll win it anyway. I think I'll win New York state, I think I'll win Michigan, I think I'll win states that nobody ever won before as a republican in many years."
