Press TV has interviewed Steven Kelley, a former CIA contractor, about the WikiLeaks saying Washington was behind the recent massive release of financial documents known as the Panama Papers to besmirch Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The following is a rough transcription of the interview.
Press TV: How do you feel about WikiLeaks’ claims?
Kelley: Well I am happy that the story has been focused on the fact that this is a contrived news event and not the actual false flag news release as it were.
Press TV: And so what does this say at this point? If the US government is trying to target President Putin with the reactions that we have had over the past number of days, do you think that they have succeeded?
Kelley: Well, I think that it has been shown to be kind of a pathetic attempt to smear Putin. Of course these are his associates and this is all hearsay and what have you and has no direct relationship to Putin, whatsoever.
This information is very much cherry-picked. The fact that we all know now that George Soros and his NGOs are behind this would suggest that the US government is certainly taking orders from George Soros and at the very least is being run by George Soros and his cohorts.
But I really think that if we are going to talk about the story at all we need to focus on the fact that this is a ..., it is a false flag news event and ridicule the source.
Press TV: And when we talk about such leaks overall and the politics of course behind them, what does this say about then trust in individual governments such as of course the US?
Kelley: Well, again the overall trust and confidence, I think, domestically not just across the world has to be at a very low point. You would think that they must not care about the critical thinking abilities of the population and our ability to discern the reality of these events but I would suspect that this is also a desperation maneuver, clearly this is a desperation maneuver and again it is pathetic because certainly it is only going to make them look bad and I do not think it will have any effect on Putin, whatsoever.
