Bahrainis stage anti-government protest in Bilad al-Qadim

1.  The International Committee of the Red Cross in Yemen has warned of a humanitarian catastrophe in the Arab country. The Red Cross says that Saudi jets have launched over one hundred attacks on Yemeni hospitals since March. It further says that hospitals and medical centers are no longer safe places for people.

2. Yemen’s Ansarullah movement and allied army units have fired a ballistic missile at a Saudi base in the Bab-el-Mandeb region. At least 152 people, among them Saudi-led forces and foreign mercenaries were killed in the attack. Yemen’s army also launched another ballistic missile attack on an airport in the Saudi region of Jizan.

3. Israeli helicopters have fired two rockets at Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip. Tel Aviv claims that the bombardment was in response to rockets that were fired toward Israeli towns earlier in the day. There are no reports of casualties from the incident yet, but the air raids heavily damaged a Hamas security post.

4. In Bahrain, people have taken to the streets to protest against the continued imprisonment of opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman and other political activists. Protesters rallied in the town of Bilad al-Qadim and demanded the immediate release of Salman. At least two Bahrainis were arrested by regime forces.

5. The Nigerian army has reportedly stormed the residence of top Shia Muslim leader Ibrahim al-Zakzaky in the northern city of Zaria. Almost all those inside the cleric’s house have been killed. The fate of the cleric and his wife remains unknown. However, some reports say that he has been arrested by the Nigerian troops.

6. Exit polls from France’s second round of regional elections suggest that the far-right National Front party has failed to win even in a single region. They topped in six out of thirteen regions in the first round. Nicolas Sarkozy's centre-right Republican Party is in the lead and ahead of the ruling Socialists.

7. Supporters of Poland's ruling Law and Justice Party have taken to the streets of the capital Warsaw in support of the government's policies. The rally came just a day after thousands of anti-government protesters denounced the appointment of new judges to the Constitutional Tribunal by President Andrej Duda.

8. US authorities have vowed to launch an investigation into the death of an African-American man outside the city of Los Angeles. The victim was shot 33 times by two police officers. A cell phone video shows that Nicholas Robertson was shot while he was walking away from the officers.
