Donald Trump, the leading US presidential candidate from the Republican Party, says he would send all the Syrian refugees accepted in the United States back to Syria if he is elected to the White House.
During a presidential campaign event on Wednesday in the state of New Hampshire, Trump said he will force all Syrian refugees to leave the US if elected president because the refugees might be members of the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terror group.
"They could be ISIS -- I don't know," Trump told a crowd of more than 3,500 at a high school in Keene, New Hampshire.
"Military tactics are very interesting," Trump said. "This could be one of the great tactical ploys of all time. A 200,000 man army, maybe. Or if they sent 50,000 or 80,000 or 100,000... That could be possible. I don't know that it is, but it could be possible."
"They're going back," he said. "And if I lose, I guess they're staying. But if I win, they're going back."
Trump’s presidential campaign has been marked by controversial statements, including with disparaging remarks about immigrants.
The latest comments mark a reversal in policy. Earlier this month, the billionaire businessman told Fox News the US should take in more refugees.

However, Washington has been under criticism for not taking more of the estimated four million refugees fleeing the war-torn country.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since March 2011. According to reports, the United States and its regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey - are supporting the militants operating inside the country.
So far this year, about half a million people have undertaken the dangerous journey across the Mediterranean Sea to reach Europe, official figures show. About 2,800 have died en route.
