Press TV has interviewed Muhammad al-Asi, an imam at the Islamic Center of Washington, and Wafik Moustafa, chairman of the Conservative Arab Network from London, to discuss the deadly human crush that claimed hundreds of lives during Hajj rituals outside the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
Asi says the major problem is that currently there is no information on the fate of many pilgrims who have disappeared following the tragic incident in Mina. He also emphasizes the need for a precise inquiry into the causes of the crush.
The imam questions competence of Saudi authorities to be in charge of running the annual Hajj pilgrimage, adding that Muslim nations can no more tolerate such tragedies as the Mina stampede and the crane crash in Mecca.

He maintains Muslims are going to take action to ensure that Hajj affairs will no longer be in the hands of those who do not have enough capability.
Moustafa, for his part, criticizes the negligence of Saudi security personnel and poor organization during this year’s Hajj pilgrimage despite similar incidents in the past.
He also says the Al Saud regime is expected to adopt proper measures to avoid such incidents in the future.
Pointing to the Hajj pilgrimage as an international ceremony, he calls for participation of other Islamic nations and entities in the management of the Islamic rite.
