Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano have sat down for talks in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The Sunday meeting was also attended by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, as well as Reza Najafi, the country’s ambassador to the IAEA.

The IAEA chief arrived in Tehran on Sunday for a day of talks with senior Iranian officials on the implementation of the roadmap the two sides signed in July for bilateral cooperation on Iran’s civilian nuclear program.

Later on Sunday, Amano is likely to attend a session of the Iranian Parliament’s (Majlis) ad hoc committee set up to review a nuclear agreement reached between Iran and six global powers in the Austrian capital city of Vienna in mid-July.

The Tehran-IAEA roadmap was signed on July 14, the same day that Iran and the P5+1 group – the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany – finalized the text of their nuclear agreement, dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, in Vienna.

As part of the roadmap, the IAEA is required to finish its investigations on Iran’s nuclear activities and submit a report to the agency’s Board of Governors by December 15.

Tehran says it has provided the necessary documents and explanations about its past and present nuclear issues to the IAEA within the agreed time frame.
